Attorney Karen B. Moulding

Karen Moulding is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, with over 15 years of experience focusing primarily in matrimonial, divorce and family law in New York, as well as Constitutional litigation, criminal defense, real estate and housing, and general practice.

Ms. Moulding served as a Judicial Clerk on the New Jersey Supreme Court, and has worked with numerous expert matrimonial attorneys in New York, including Adria Hillman and Susan Kunstler. In addition to her JD from Columbia Law, Ms. Moulding holds a graduate (MFA) degree in Writing from Columbia University.

An adept legal writer, Ms. Moulding has argued and won appeals in the New York Appellate Division, including Coccetti v. Coccetti, concerning an attempt at increased equitable distribution following a divorce judgment.

Ms. Moulding is the Author and on-going updating Editor of a prominent national legal treatise on complex family law issues, Sexual Orientation and the Law (published by Thomson Reuters/West), which covers legal issues affecting lesbian and gay clients as well as anyone in non-traditional families. Her work covers a myriad of issues affecting many modern families, including reproductive technology, complex financial and parenting agreements, custody or visitation rights for non-biological or non-married parents, and conflicting parentage or custody laws from state to state.

Ms. Moulding is admitted in the State of New York, and is an active member of the New York County Lawyers' Association, the NYCLA Matrimonial Committee, and the NYCLA Real Estate Committee. Ms. Moulding is a Cooperating Attorney with the National Center for Lesbian Rights and is a member of the National Lawyers Guild.
